Our organic Cardamom CO2 Total Extract has a very rich, warm, aromatic sweet-spicy, at first penetrating, somewhat medicinal aroma with a balsamic-woody and increasingly sweet drydown. The extreme tenacity and complex aroma of this CO2 extract capture the organoleptic virtues of freshly crushed Cardamom even more completely than does the steam distilled essential oil of Cardamom.
A member of the Ginger family, Cardamom oil has a very long history of use in food, medicine, and perfumery. Surprisingly, it is known as an aphrodisiac and is used extensively in tea, coffee, and spice mixtures as well as in cosmetics and perfumery to add a warm, fresh, and stimulating quality. According to Ayurveda, Cardamom kindles the fires of digestion, stimulates the activity of the heart, and refreshes the mind.Aromatherapeutically, Cardamom oil has a lively array of oxides and ester molecules that have an affinity for the respiratory and digestive systems.
We find that the CO2 extracts of the spice oils are preferable in aroma to the more commonly available steam distilled versions and are especially well suited for natural perfumery purposes. Their energetic and vibrant aroma is true to that of the fresh plant material.
